The Grimsel Pass is a passage through the western alps. The Pass has a few bodies of water, but they aren't for drinking. The pass is located near the Rhone glacier, so water had best come from there.
The reason you can't drink the water here is nearby the humans have a underground nuclear waste testing site. So the water could be contaminated, none of us have tested it but wolves are smart enough to know not to drink tainted water.
There's not much prey, but predators frequent the area, combing the deadly water pools for a possible scavenged meal. The pass is safe, minus the water and provides plenty of shelter amongst many crevices in the rock.
